The Sargasso Sea Alliance is pursuing a practical and collaborative approach toward the creation of a high seas MPA.  Working with key governments, we seek to recommend protection measures for habitat impacts from shipping and fishing activities, among others, using existing legal mechanisms implemented through international and regional organizations.

To do so, the Alliance is working within the existing system of fragmented governance, with separate entities focusing on different actiivties which impact the marine environment.  We are also exploring ways to collaborate with organizations and entities.  More information on the international, regional and other organizations we work with to seek marine protection is available on the menu to the right.
