As of 2021, the work programme of the Sargasso Sea Commission consists of the implementation of two separate but complementary projects, the Sargasso Sea Project, funded by the Global Envirnoment Facility, and the SARGADOM project, funded by the French Facility for Global Environment. The general outputs of the projects include: a Socio-Ecosystem Diagnostic Analysis (SEDA) which will update the science case created in 2011 for the Sargasso Sea, and a Strategic Action Programme endorsed by stakeholders of the Sargasso Sea for stewardship of the area.
