Socio-Ecosystem Diagnostic Analysis (SEDA) for the Sargasso Sea
The first of its kind for this iconic high seas ecosystem.
Read the SEDA Summary.
The Socio-Ecosystem Diagnostic Analysis (SEDA), which was researched and written over four years by more than 25 experts presents the clearest scientific case yet made of the global importance of the Sargasso Sea.
The SEDA was produced under the UNDP-GEF Sargasso Sea Stewardship Project, funded by the Global Environment Facility, and the 'SARGADOM' project, funded by the French Facility for Global Environment.
The SEDA will form the basis for negotiation of a Strategic Action Programme for the ongoing conservation and stewardship of the Sargasso Sea, which will be agreed by Sargasso Sea stakeholders including Sargasso Sea Commissioners and representatives of the signatory governments of the Hamilton Declaration.
SEDA supporting documents
The SEDA is accompanied by a causal chain analysis, an ecosystem valuation and a gaps analysis.
SEDA Thematic Factsheets
In order to break down a highly technical, 400+ page document, several 'bite-sized' factsheets have been developed focusing on different thematic areas of the SEDA.
